Behringer BCD3000 DJ controller

So I bought a Behringer BCD 3000 in an impulse. I am not a DJ, but I did take a DJ course some time ago, learning DJ-ing on decks and on CD. Well, I still would like to improve my DJ skills on vinyl, but I do not have a working recordplayeranymore, and I will skip CD’s. I see no use for cd’s in the mp3 age. Hence the Behringer.
The Behringer is a dj controller to control your virtual DJ application. It also is a midi controller for any other software like ableton live, it has an analog audio mixer which can handle two turntables or one turntable and a line signal, and a microphone in. It also has it’s own audio interface with stereo master output and a seperate headphone output.
The cdr reminded me a bit of my behringer bcr2000 controller, but it has a much cheaper, plastic feel to it. The buttons are a lot cheaper and lighter, where my bcr is quite sturdy. But it is good enough, and the bcd is thus a lot lighter. I connected it to my macbook, and installed the traktor LE3 that it came with. The midi controllers worked out of the box without drivers. The audio interface I had to activate by creating an aggregated interface in audio/midi setup, which was easy to do. When that was done, it worked quite well.
Playing around with traktor 3 le and the bcd is a lot of fun. The bcd is already mapped to the controls of traktor, so no setup nessecary. The soundquality is quite descent for such a cheap interface, and the headphone amp is powerful enough for my AKG K-240.
I did not test the analog or mic input, what I read in reviews is that the mic input is not very high gain and has no phantom power, so you need to use a dynamic mic with high output.
The controls work very nicely with traktor, no remapping needed, controls feel good, react well, the shuttles are quite usable, the faders are smooth.
All in all, I am very happy with the bcd3000, for its price (around 199 euro) it can’t be beat. There is also things like the numark total DJ control, which is 50 euros more expensive, but is only a controller, not an audio interface.
Recommended.
